A Yarn with Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann

In this special episode, Miriam-Rose talks about Dadirri, healing and the importance of listening. Trust, mutual respect and understanding  is enhanced when we engage with the practice of  deep listening. In 2021, Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann was honoured as the Senior Australian of the Year. Perhaps her greatest achievement however, is bringing the concept of Dadirri to the world. It speaks to the value of deep listening and quiet stillness, and has been a part of Aboriginal practice for thousands of years.

Home is Important to Me Because……..

Home is important for so many different reasons. Shelter. A place to rest. An expression of Identity. Independence. Autonomy. Love. What would it take for more people with a disability to have a home of their own?

Australians Together

The relationship between many Indigenous people and the land is one of reciprocity and respect – the land sustains and provides for the people, and the people sustain and manage the land through culture and ceremony. Because of this close connection, when the land is disrespected, damaged or destroyed, this can have real impact on the wellbeing of Indigenous people.

Gather My Crew

The “Gather My Crew” project creates an opportunity for collaboration and partnership that reflects the values of reciprocity, trust and mutual respect. Gather My Crew was developed to provide  support  for people and communities to regain personal and community wellbeing during challenging times. The online rostering system makes it easy for people to ask for help, and the help received is meaningful, sustainable and it becomes ongoing. Once people are signed up to help, they realise how good it makes them feel to lend a helping hand. The “Crew” know that they are making a positive and practical difference to people who really need extra care and support during and after a crisis.

The Whole Child

Children’s mental health cannot be separated from the broader contexts of their lives. There are many interacting influences that impact on infant and child mental health, not least of which is children’s relationships with their parents and their immediate family environment. Our video, The Whole Child, seeks to highlight a holistic view of children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

Homeshare Melbourne

At Home Share Melbourne, we focus on the idea of a ‘home’ rather a house. A home is not just a bed and roof over your head, it’s somewhere that is safe, comfortable, welcoming, which is full of people (and pets!) who you have chosen to live with. A home is a sanctuary and how it feels can impact the rest of your life.
